The 2027 Formula 1 calendar is confirmed, with another 24-race season across 22 countries.
The season begins in Bahrain on 12–14 March, following pre-season testing at the same circuit from 24–27 February, and concludes under the lights at Yas Marina with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on 10–12 December.
It will be the fourth consecutive season featuring 24 Grands Prix.
A record 10 Sprint weekends
One of the biggest changes for 2027 is the expansion of the Sprint format from six weekends to a record 10.
The confirmed Sprint venues are:
- Bahrain
- Australia
- Japan
- Canada
- Monaco
- Great Britain
- Italy
- Brazil
- Qatar
- Abu Dhabi
The increased Sprint schedule means more competitive action throughout the season, including at the final round.
Abu Dhabi will host a Sprint alongside the traditional season finale at Yas Marina on 10–12 December. If the championship is still undecided when Formula 1 arrives in Abu Dhabi, there will be even more points available across the final weekend.
Portugal and Türkiye are back
Two familiar circuits return to the Formula 1 calendar in 2027.
Portugal — Portimão
Formula 1 returns to the Algarve on 18–20 June, bringing the Portuguese Grand Prix back to the calendar for the first time since 2021.
Türkiye — Istanbul Park
The Turkish Grand Prix is scheduled to return on 1–3 October, subject to FIA circuit homologation.
Monaco remains in its June position, taking place on 4–6 June, followed by Portugal later in the month and Silverstone at the beginning of July.
What we expect the 2027 grid to look like
The driver market is unusually settled this far ahead of the new season.
Based on confirmed contracts, team announcements and the latest information available as of 30 September 2026, this is how the 2027 grid currently looks.
Confirmed or contracted for 2027
- McLaren: Lando Norris & Oscar Piastri
- Ferrari: Charles Leclerc & Lewis Hamilton
- Red Bull: Max Verstappen & Isack Hadjar
- Williams: Carlos Sainz & Alex Albon
- Aston Martin: Fernando Alonso & Lance Stroll
- Audi: Nico Hülkenberg & Gabriel Bortoleto
- Alpine: Pierre Gasly & Franco Colapinto
- Cadillac: Sergio Pérez & Valtteri Bottas
Expected, but not yet formally announced
Mercedes is expected to continue with George Russell and Kimi Antonelli for 2027. The team has indicated that its current line-up will continue, but until the 2027 pairing is formally announced, it is better described as expected rather than officially confirmed.
That leaves Haas and Racing Bulls as the main areas of uncertainty on the grid.
Both teams are still to formally confirm their complete 2027 driver line-ups, so any potential combinations should currently be treated as anticipated rather than confirmed.
The takeaway
24 races. 10 Sprints. Two returning venues. One packed season.
The 2027 season starts in Bahrain in March and runs all the way through to a Sprint weekend season finale in Abu Dhabi in December.
